One of the earliest memories I have is baking lemon biscuits with Nana Kelly, my mother’s mother. I was about seven years old but the pleasure I got from tasting those hot, buttery biscuits fresh from the oven has never been forgotten. Both my Mother and Grandmother were great bakers and both made exceptionally good brown sodabread – the real test of an Irish cook!

Unfortunately nowadays, many people just don’t have the time or knowhow to bake like previous generations. At DessertFirst our aim is to provide great tasting, delicious tarts and cakes ‘ just like Granny used to make’ – so you can have the tradition without the time and effort. We use traditional recipes and quality ingredients – you won’t see a long list of unrecognisable additives on our labels. We use real Irish butter and fresh eggs in all our baking for a far superior flavour.
